Shake the Dust was an ambitious national participation and performance project ran by Apples and Snakes.
After a series of facilitation workshops for performance poets, in early 2012 an in-depth workshop programme was put in place in schools and youth groups across the nine regions of England. Five teams in each region rehearsed and workshopped to find their voices, improve their writing skills and hone their ability to perform. They then came together to perform their work in Regional Slam finals for the chance to compete at the National Shake the Dust Weekend in London.
Hayley worked with performance poet Spoz in Woodrush High School facilitating creative activities with a group of young writers who went on to win an award for Best Performance at the Regional Slam final hosted by the Drum.
